Football-flavored sodas for sale
The beverage company captures football’s essence with flavors like ‘Dirt’ and ‘Perspiration.’

SEATTLE (AP) — Ever wonder what the Seahawks’ locker room tastes like after a big game?

Apparently, Jones Soda Co. thinks Seattle NFL fans want to know. The company started taking online pre-orders Thursday for a five-pack of sodas with flavors it says reflect the hard work of professional football players.

Clare Bowles, a spokeswoman for the Seattle-based company, said the four literally named flavors — Dirt, Sports Cream, Perspiration and Natural Field Turf — are “pretty lifelike.”

“Perspiration Soda is kind of salty tasting,” she said, with a slightly higher sodium content than the average soda, with a smooth, “stinky football sock” finish.

“24” star Kiefer Sutherland was busted on suspicion of DUI in West Hollywood last night, after allegedly blowing more than twice the legal limit of .08. This is the actor’s second DUI in the past five years — he was arrested in 2004. By California law, if he’s convicted, he must serve a mandatory minimum of five days in jail. Read the story here.

DUI is one thing I can’t stand. BE RESPONSIBLE. You could kill someone!

RICHLAND TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Police said two women dressed as ninjas were responsible for the hold-up of a Richland Township gas station Saturday morning using a samurai sword.

Police said the two women — one with a dagger, and the other carrying the sword — entered a Sunoco station in the 5600 block of Route 8 at about 3 a.m.

According to police, the women tied up the clerk and robbed the store of cash, cigarettes and lottery tickets. Read the story here.

You have got to be kidding me! I can’t get over how ridiculous people are.

One of my favorite shows is Mystery Diagnosis so I’m very interested in stories like this…

Has your illness been misdiagnosed?

(CNN) Misdiagnoses are more common than you might think: A 2005 study in the Journal of the American Medical Association says autopsy studies show doctors are wrong 10 percent to 15 percent of the time.

Here are some red flags — five reasons for suspecting your doctor might have made the wrong diagnosis.

1. You don’t get better with treatment

2. Your symptoms don’t match your diagnosis

3. Your diagnosis is based purely on a lab test

4. Your doctor attributes common complaints to an uncommon ailment

5. Your diagnosis usually involves a test you never received

If you suspect you’ve been misdiagnosed, you have two choices: You can go back to the doctor who made the original diagnosis, or you can seek out a second opinion (or do both).

Central Park lovers get engaged, mugged

AP story from Yahoo! News

NEW YORK – For richer, for poorer? It’ll have to be for poorer after Luke Jacunski and his girlfriend were robbed at gunpoint just seconds after he proposed.

Jacunski got on one knee and popped the question to his girlfriend of six months, Mami Nagase, in a romantic spot at a gazebo in Central Park on Saturday night. She had just agreed to marry him when, they said, a gunman jumped from the bushes and yelled, “Give me your money and get on the ground!”

As Jacunski, 30, and Nagase, 24, got on the ground, he was able to slip the engagement ring off her finger and hide it in his pocket.

The robber took a Rolex watch from Nagase and $125 from Jacunski, who had planned to use it to pay for a romantic dinner at a French restaurant. The robber then ran away.

Nagase, an artist from Japan, and Jacunski, a musician from Cincinnati, spent the next several hours at a police station looking at mug shots and sharing potato chips for dinner. They said they still plan to get married.

“It makes for a pretty good story for our anniversary,” Jacunski said.

He said the night could have been much worse: After he proposed, Nagase could have said no.

The original Soulja Boy Tell Em – Crank That MUSIC VIDEO:

A bridge is to be built in a Chinese village where children are forced to cross a raging torrent on a steel cable to get to school.

Nearly 500 children, from Maji village in Fugong town, Yunnan province, cross the most dangerous stretch of the Nujiang River each day.

They fasten themselves to the cable with a metal carabiner and a rope and slide across the 200 metre wide canyon, reports the Beijing News.

The youngest student, A Qia, 4, has to go over by herself each day.

“I have to hand walk for about 60 metres, since my light weight makes me stop about two thirds of the way across,” she said.

The villagers say that usually four-year-old children are taken by their parents, and begin to go by themselves from the age of five.

A Pu, five, who was stuck in the middle of the cable for nearly 20 minutes once, said: “I used to dream of having a bridge, but then I learned that my dream was too expensive.”

But officials finally agreed to spend £35,000 on a bridge after a TV programme was made about the children’s dangerous daily journey. Story from ananova.com.

First she and her husband split, now this.

On her blog, Jenna Fischer (aka Pam Beesly) acknowledged that her Emmy dress was “kind of a risk.” She continued to say, “You may hate it. Or, it might be awesome. I’m honestly not sure. But I love it. It’s not like anything I’ve ever worn before. I wanted to break out a little.” Well, guess who just landed on the “Worst Dressed” list…

(CNN) — One day in the hospital, Vladimir Atryzek overheard a nurse mention that his daughter, Molly, needed to have some bone marrow extracted. The nurse said she would be preparing Molly immediately for the potentially painful procedure

Don’t be afraid to ruffle a few feathers and speak up for a sick loved one, one advocate says.

There was just one problem. Atryzek knew Molly didn’t need to have her bone marrow taken; she’d just had it done recently. So for what wasn’t the first time — and wouldn’t be the last — Atryzek stepped in as an advocate for his daughter.

“I told the nurse we weren’t doing bone marrow today, and she pointed to the chart and said, ‘No, it says right here we’re doing bone marrow,’ ” recalled Atryzek, whose 17-year-old daughter is in a hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, fighting leukemia. “I asked the nurse to check it, and she came back and said, ‘Oh, you’re right, no bone marrow.’ “

Atryzek and his wife, Suzanne, said in the year since Molly’s leukemia diagnosis that they’ve learned much about how crucial it is to speak up for someone who’s too sick to advocate for him or herself.

Here, according to the Atryzeks and others who’ve been there, are ways to fight for a sick loved one:

1: Don’t be afraid to intervene

2: Ask questions until you understand the answer

3: Remember that you know things the doctors don’t

4: Temper your loved one’s enthusiasm for quick fixes

5: Scope out the nurses
